JOB OPPORTUNITIES

  • Job Title: Public Works Director

    Location: Hidalgo, TX

    Type: Full-Time

    Status: Exempt

    Supervisory: Yes

    Job Summary:

    The City of Hidalgo is seeking a highly skilled Public Works Director to lead and manage the water and wastewater departments. This role is critical for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the city's water supply and wastewater treatment systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the daily operations of the water and wastewater departments, including treatment plants, distribution systems, and wastewater collection.

    • Develop and manage budgets for water and wastewater projects and operations.

    • Plan and implement strategies for maintaining and improving water quality and wastewater treatment processes.

    • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of dedicated operators and maintenance staff.

    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding water and wastewater.

    • Coordinate emergency response efforts for water and wastewater issues.

    • Collaborate with other city departments and agencies on related projects and initiatives.

    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators for water and wastewater systems.

    • Engage with community members and stakeholders to address concerns and provide updates on water and wastewater projects.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in water and wastewater management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

    • In-depth knowledge of water treatment and distribution, as well as wastewater treatment and collection systems.

    • Strong leadership and communication skills.

    • Proficiency in budgeting and project management.

    • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements for water and wastewater systems.

    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

    Job Summary

    The City of Hidalgo is accepting applications for a Police Dispatcher. This position supports the police department in ensuring the health, safety, and protection of the public by expeditiously analyzing and prioritizing emergency requests and calls for law enforcement, fire, ambulance, and rescue services.

    Essential Services:
    This position is designated “essential/critical services”. The employee is required to respond to requests for work during emergencies (natural or man-made events) and report to work for regularly assigned shifts during emergency closures.

  • Position:
    City of Hidalgo Full Time Police Officer

    Job Description:

    Performs law enforcement duties in an assigned area during a specific period; assists in investigations of criminal offenses and in the apprehension of criminals. Performs enforcement duties in relation to laws and legal procedures. The position requires a High school diploma/GED. Applicants must possess a valid Texas driver's license. A Basic Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certification is required.
